Functional Skills Assessments – Temporary Suspension (NCFE)
We’re writing to update employers and partners on the current position regarding Functional Skills assessments.
NCFE has been affected by a significant cyber-attack, impacting their core systems nationally. As a result, all NCFE Functional Skills testing has been temporarily suspended until NCFE confirms it is safe, secure, and fully operational to resume.
What this means for Skern Training & Skills (STS)
Any planned or upcoming Functional Skills assessments arranged through NCFE will be placed on hold until further notice.
Reassurance for employers and learners
This pause is a precautionary measure to protect the integrity of assessments, and the security of learner data.
During this period, STS staff will continue to deliver high-quality teaching, learning, and preparation. Our trainers will keep supporting learners so that, once testing restarts, they are in the strongest possible position to succeed.

We will share further updates as soon as NCFE provides more information, including confirmation of any timeline for assessments to restart.
